BATHURST AGRICULTURAL SHOW
The Annual Bathurst Agricultural Show is held over 3 days every year with Exhibitors from all over the Eastern Cape and surrounds booking their stands, either indoor or outdoor, to market their products. Exhibitors represent a complete cross-section of the South African business sector. These include a large Commercial vehicle exhibition; Heavy Duty & Farm equipment; and Cattle & Small Stock. An extensive Flea Market section is demarcated for small business entrepreneurs encouraging local as well as national creative talent to display and sell their craft thus generating employment in what is traditionally an economically depressed region. Indoor stands cater for light industry & homecraft exhibits creating an interesting and attractive aspect of the show for visitors.
Beside the opportunity to exhibit and trade, the Show calls for Entries in October each year through a comprehensive Catalogue published and distributed to approximately 1,000 potential participants to compete in their specific field. The categories cover a broad spectrum of farming methods, arts, crafts, and home industries such as a Horse Section; Cattle Section; Small Stock Section; Pineapple Section; Best Conserved Farm; Best Agricultural Invention; Art (Junior & Adult); Photography; Baking; to name but a few. Each section is judged according to the highest standards applicable and prizes are awarded in the form of trophies and items generously donated by local business and the public.
The Horse Section boasts a proud partnership with the Agricultural Society throughout its history ensuring that high standards of equestrian events and coaching are continued and encouraged by a new generation of South Africans. The Horse show begins one day prior to the Agricultural Show with Dressage & full equestrian events being staged.
